Cutigliano (700 meters above sea level), historic town in the heart of the Pistoia mountains, is the starting point for discovering its suggestive surroundings, rich in nature, art and culture. In an environment rich in woods, meadows, streams and uncontaminated protected oases such as the biogenetic reserve of Campolino or the botanical garden of Pian di Novello, it is possible to discover the variety of flora and fauna of the mountain. An accurate map of the paths allows excursions on foot, horseback and mountain bike or visits guided by forestry experts and trekking groups.
A very modern cable car connects Cutigliano to Doganaccia (1400-1600 m), a ski resort and starting point for summer excursions to Lake Scaffaiolo, overlooking breathtaking panoramas. Nearby there are also picturesque villages, rich in history and art and easily accessible, such as San Marcello, Piteglio, Gavinana, Maresca and Rivoreta, home to an important ethnological museum of the mountain people, or Abetone, a well-known ski resort.
Nature marries culture, and since Cutigliano can be reached within a radius of 70 km the great art cities of Tuscany: Pistoia (35 km), Lucca (50 km), Florence (70 km), Pisa (70 km), thus combining the peace of the mountains with the great and unique culture of Tuscany.
